The Islamic View on Environment Protection

🌍 The Islamic View on Environment Protection Islam is not only a religion of worship; it is a complete way of life that guides humanity in every aspect — spiritual, social, moral, and environmental. One of the most beautiful teachings of Islam is its deep emphasis on protecting the Earth, preserving nature, and maintaining ecological balance. The Qur’an repeatedly warns: “Do not spread corruption on the Earth.” This message is powerful, universal, and timeless — reminding us that protecting nature is not an optional act, but an Imani responsibility . 🌿 Introduction: Islam’s Eco-Ethical Foundation Islam views the Earth as a trust (Amanah) from Allah. Every river, mountain, tree, animal, and even a grain of soil is part of this trust. Humans are appointed as Khulafa (caretakers) on Earth, not owners. We are accountable for how we use, protect, or misuse the environment. Allah says in the Qur’an: “It is He who has appointed you as caretakers on Earth...

🌙 Introduction — A Message That Changed Humanity Forever

Fourteen centuries ago, on the plains of Arafat near Makkah, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ delivered a sermon that transformed the course of human civilization. Known as the Farewell Sermon (Khutbat al-Wadaʿ), this message was not merely a farewell—it was a timeless declaration of human rights, social justice, and equality.

In a world where oppression, tribalism, and inequality were deeply rooted, this sermon came as divine light. Every line of it still echoes with the call of peace, dignity, and unity that humanity desperately needs today.

🌍 1. Equality Beyond Race and Color

The Prophet ﷺ declared that no Arab is superior to a non-Arab, and no non-Arab is superior to an Arab; no white person is superior to a black person, and no black person is superior to a white person—except in piety and good deeds.

At a time when racial discrimination and social hierarchy dominated the world, this statement became the first global declaration of racial equality. It destroyed the walls of pride, caste, and color, establishing the principle that all humans are equal in the eyes of Allah.

⚖️ 2. Justice and Accountability

The Prophet ﷺ emphasized justice as the foundation of society: “Your blood, your property, and your honor are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day, in this month, in this city.”

He made it clear that no one has the right to harm another person, steal, or exploit the weak. Justice, honesty, and moral responsibility were declared as pillars of a peaceful society — the earliest human rights charter defending life, property, and dignity.

💕 3. The Rights and Respect of Women

The Prophet ﷺ reminded men to treat women with love, kindness, and justice: “O people! Fear Allah regarding your women. You have taken them as a trust from Allah.”

He elevated women’s status from being treated as property to being honored as partners in faith and humanity. In a society where daughters were buried alive, he restored their honor and declared that paradise lies at the feet of mothers.

💰 4. Economic Justice and Prohibition of Exploitation

The Prophet ﷺ abolished interest (riba) and unjust trade, saying: “All usury from the days of ignorance is abolished.” This was a revolutionary step toward economic equality, ensuring that wealth circulated fairly and not just among the rich.

🕊️ 5. Brotherhood of Humanity

“All mankind is from Adam and Eve.” With these words, the Prophet ﷺ established that humanity shares one origin. The concept of Ummah — a global brotherhood united by peace and compassion — was born.

📿 6. Sanctity of Life and Human Dignity

Every human life was declared sacred. The Prophet ﷺ said that killing an innocent soul is one of the gravest sins. He called for respect, mercy, and forgiveness — values that today form the moral foundation of human rights.

🕌 7. Religious Freedom and Tolerance

The sermon reinforced the Qur’anic principle: “There is no compulsion in religion.” The Prophet ﷺ never forced faith upon anyone and established Medina as a city of coexistence among Muslims, Jews, and Christians.

🌿 8. Environmental Responsibility

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The Earth is green and beautiful, and Allah has appointed you as stewards over it.” He encouraged planting trees and avoiding waste — establishing environmental justice in Islam.

💞 9. Forgiveness and Compassion

In his sermon, the Prophet ﷺ forgave those who had wronged him, showing that revenge only breeds hatred, but forgiveness heals the heart. True peace begins in the soul.

🌅 10. The Farewell Message to Humanity

The Prophet ﷺ asked, “Have I conveyed the message?” The crowd replied, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah!” Then he said, “O Allah, bear witness.” This moment marked the completion of the divine mission.

🌏 Conclusion — The First Global Charter of Human Rights

Long before the UN or the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Prophet ﷺ had already outlined the moral framework for all humanity. His sermon remains the world’s first and most comprehensive declaration of universal rights — calling for dignity, equality, justice, and compassion for all.

“Humanity will never know true peace until it follows the light of the Last Sermon.”

💫 Message of the Prophet ﷺ

Equality, mercy, and justice are the foundations of peace. Let humanity return to the Last Sermon — the eternal light of truth.
